Our Story
In 2007, husband-and-wife team Kevin and Jodie Panagapka decided to establish a small Pinot Noir vineyard on Jodie’s parents’ property. They were assigned Grape Growing Number 2027, which inspired 2027 Cellars. Initially operating as a “virtual” winery, 2027 Cellars produced its first vintage, which included 100 cases of Riesling. Until 2020, their wine was sold exclusively to restaurant customers and unavailable to the public.
2027 Cellars is a hands-on operation. Founder and winemaker Kevin Panagapka manages all the vineyard blocks from which he sources grapes. To achieve optimal quality, he carefully selects specific rows and determines vineyard practices, such as leaf pulling, cluster thinning, and harvest dates. All fruit is hand-harvested for all vineyard-designated wines, such as Chardonnay, Riesling, Pinot Noir, and Traditional Method Sparkling. Only Burgundian oak from the French forests of Alliers, Nevers, and Vosges is used in the cellar, and fermentations are carried out with indigenous yeasts.
