SR 2020 Pinot Grigio
SR 2020 Pinot Grigio
The Vintage:
2020 proved close to perfect conditions for wine grapes with a warm, arid growing season and temperate fall harvest. Virtually all grape varieties performed well in this growing season and the dry and temperate harvest season meant most grapes were picked in pristine condition with excellent concentration. This quality should be evident in both red and white varieties grown in the Niagara region.
Tasting Notes:
A beautiful nose of fruit blossom, strawberries, fresh peach, red apple, and a dollop of honey. The palate is light to medium-bodied with a soft, creamy texture and delicate citrus acidity. Ripe, plush flavours of Macintosh apple, pear, wildflower honey, and lemon citrus on the finish. Pair with lighter fare such as antipasto platters, soft cheeses, pan-fried whitefish, or white pizza.
Technical Notes:
Grapes were harvested from the Garrett Vineyard in the Four Mile Creek sub-appellation in Niagara. The grapes showed excellent character, with a delicate acidity balancing out the grape's sugar with an average of 19.5° brix. The grapes were crushed at the winery and immediately pressed. The juice was fermented at cool temperatures in stainless steel tanks with no secondary malolactic fermentation. After time to age and settle in tank, the wine was filtered and bottled in January 2021.
